Today’s Word Up!: Yes…I am being Brain-Washed…

or should I say I am washing my brain…

And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. -Romans 12:2

I like the way the Amplified Translation puts it…

Do not be conformed to this world (this age), [fashioned after and adapted to its external, superficial customs], but be transformed (changed) by the [entire] renewal of your mind [by its new ideals and its new attitude], so that you may prove [for yourselves] what is the good and acceptable and perfect will of God, even the thing which is good and acceptable and perfect [in His sight for you].

A key ingredient to living a successful Christian Life lies in being transformed or changed, and that change comes from re-newing our minds.  No longer thinking or regarding things in line with how we used to think…but rather based on God’s Word, developing a totally new way of thinking, a way of thinking that serves God’s Purposes not our own, and quite frankly a way of thinking that differs from the norm.  Christians don’t seem to have a problem believing that when the Bible says that we have become a new creation, [2 Corinthians 5:17] but what many fail to realize is that although our Spirit is Reborn and made New when we accept Christ as our Lord and Saviour, that we must now follow and live by God’s Word to bring the rest of us in line (Body & Soul, Soul = your mind and emotions) and that only happens when you change or renew your mind to line up with what God has to say about things, and that is found only in His Word…The Bible.

This is the reason why there are many Christians who fail miserably when it comes to Living or Walking out there Christianity, they can be very well versed and knowledgeable of the Theology, even do wonderful things for people and yet at the same time they can be found guilty of some of the most darkest, shameful behaviors and un-Christ like behavior.

It’s Time we (Christians) shift our focus from all of the things that seem to distract us and capture our attention and begin the process of allowing God to complete this wonderful transformation into the New Creations He so desires for us to be…it’s time we stop being our own biggest obstacle to sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ with the world saying all of the right things while driving people away at the same time because we look and sound nothing like this “Good God” we are telling them about…it’s time we all submit to some voluntary Brain Washing, taking the time to actually sit down and shut up for a minute and read and allow God’s Word to change us first and then from a renewed position effectively go and reach the world…and trust us the sooner we begin to think Like God the sooner and the easier it will be to “Act” or behave in the same manner that He would….maybe then the “What Would Jesus Do?” cliche could be modified to be the Christina mantra…We Do What Jesus Does!”
