Today’s Word Up! What’s Stronger Than God’s Word?
Answer: the Worthless Traditions and Rituals of Men (mankind)…
“You hypocrites! Isaiah was right when he prophesied about you, for he wrote, ‘These people honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me.
Their worship is a farce, for they teach man-made ideas as commands from God.’
For you ignore God’s law and substitute your own tradition…And so you cancel the word of God in order to hand down your own tradition. -Mark 7:6-8, 13
More than two thousand years have passed since Jesus offered this rebuke to the religious leaders of that time. In their zeal to be Holy and righteous they often trampled over the very thing that provided for the righteousness, God’s Word. The same problem still exist within the Christian Community, for some strange reason as time, people, and technology changes…there are still some very rigid, stiff and unyielding people who refuse to change. That by itself is not the problem…the problem is when we take that fear of/refusal to change and then erect religious doctrines and superficial rituals around them and then try to enforce those empty rituals on others and use them as a measurement of a persons righteousness. There is really only one word to describe it…FOOLISH!
Even as a kid this was evident to me, growing up in a church where the women really thought their holiness had something to do with their long skirts and their refusal to wear make-up..and yet their behavior and attitudes looked nothing like God, their attire and lack of make-up didn’t make them more holy or righteous..it just revealed that they lacked fashion sense and besides a little make-up could of really helped some of them out or at least the people looking upon them.
Even as I type this there are fights and arguments taking place, over what is holy and what isn’t, what is worship and what isn’t. One should stand and be silent vs one should dance and be joyful, and the list of foolish goes on and on. All in an attempt to hold to some sort of tradition and keep things the way the have always been. It’s funny because as we look through the Gospels we see Jesus, constantly shaking things up…why cause He was a trouble maker? No not at all, because he came to save people. He broke away from the vain traditions of prostrating and walking around with an appearance of righteousness and began to go into the very places where the people he wanted to reach were…the streets, the thrown away places…the outcast. Jesus being real with people, eating with them, laughing and crying with them. Embracing them and healing their hurts. How did the religious leaders react…”Oh my God He let that nasty woman touch Him! Oh NO! He didn’t wash His Hands before He ate…Oh the Horror…now He’s Dancing at that party with those Heathens. Jesus tried to explain to the religious leaders that He did not come to seek the healthy…but those that were sick and in need of help.
Hey fam, we really need to be careful that we are not taking our own likes and dis-likes, our own personal preferences and then building and shaping our theology and religion around those likes dis-likes and preferences. In other words if I don’t like country music I really shouldn’t be declaring that it is the evil and from the devil and trying to get others to think the same way, or if I am too rigid to jump up and down or raise my hands when I am worshipping God then I shouldn’t launch a campaign to turn everyone else into a stick in the mud or one of the “frozen chosen”. We need to be sure that we are not adding our own empty rituals to God’s plan for salvation and stick to presenting people with the Truth, not Truth with a slant or even partial Truth…it’s time we dump our worthless traditions (which haven’t produced anything worthwhile to date) and start servin up the Truth the Whole Truth and Nothing but the Truth…so Help Us God!

Testimony…….Is God really Good?
I was working and i slid down the back porch……i hit the cement with
my right foot not on the heel on the bottom front and wow what a shock wave
that sent up my leg. I could not walk i had to crawl up the stairs, I started
praising God and got on the phone to get some intercession,
Well that was my rent money i was working for….okay about a week into this
i ended up borrowing money, i was frustrated and very discouraged and the
Lord brought me to this song “Is God really Good?” then i got a word
“Trust in the Lord with all thine heart, and lean not unto thine own
understanding. 6.In all thy ways acknowledge him and
he shall direct thy paths. Proverbs 3:5,6
This verse alone has carried me through many trials, but he added some more
“Trust in the Lord and do good:so shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily
thou shalt be fed. 4. Delight thyself also in the Lord and do good: and he
shall give thee the desires of thine heart. 5. Commit thy way unto the Lord;
trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass. Psalm 37:3-5
“O taste and see that the Lord is good: blessed is the man that
trusteth in him.” Psalm 34:8
“The Lord redeemeth the soul of his servants and none of them that rust in him
shall be desolate” Psalm 34:22
The angel of the Lord encampeth round about them that fear him and delivereth
them. The Lord ; he is their strength in the time of trouble. 40. And the Lord
shall help them and deliver them: he shall deliver them from the wicked and
save them because they trust in him. Psalm 37:39-40
For by thee I have run through a troop and by my God have I leaped over a wall;
30. As for God his way is perfect; he is a buckler to all those that
trust in him. Psalm 18:29,30
I am slow sometimes on the draw but i got it this time LOUD and CLEAR…..
‘TRUST IN THE LORD’
ARE YOU WITH ME ON THIS..IT GETS BETTER
RE-CAP
1. I get injured
2. The LORD IN HIS FAITHFULNESS GIVES ME A SONG ” IS GOD REALLY GOOD?
This song by the way was used to help encourage me and carry me through.
3. Then I get a word “Trust in the Lord”
4. The Lord gives me another word to…WHAT HE WILL DO
5. “You whom I have taken from the ends of the earth. And called from its
remotest parts. And said to you “you are My servant, I have chosen you and
not rejected you.” 10. Do not fear, for I am with you, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you, surely I will help you. Surely I will uphold you
with My righteous right hand.” Isaiah 41:9,10
The mountains in my life are now hills and they will soon be chaff in Jesus
mighty name. I just want to bless you for letting the Lord use you, YOUR
LABOR IS NOT IN VAIN…This was the beginning of a series of majors
obstacles being removed in my life.
1. The injury and song in the midst THAT LIFTED ME UP
2. The word TRUST IN THE LORD
3. Another word of what THE LORD WILL DO…because of His faithfullness
for His names sake.
4. The Lord had a sister in the Lord, Karen, Katie and Aaron sowed a seed
into my life to help carry the burden….$300. Glory to God and my He
sow back into them 100 fold.
5. The Lord also used other brothers and sisters to help carry me,John,
Fion, Helen, Allen, Ivan,, Ralph WITH THEIR PRAYERS AND HELP IN
other practical ways.
6. THE LORD
3. Then i get a word…
