Two Turntables and a Microphone…

Posted in Christians and Hip Hop, christian music, christian rap, holy hip hop, urban ministry by daproffessor on June 27, 2008

The wheels of steel…the turntables…the crossfader…these are the tools of trade of the dj. When taking a look at the dj in comparison to the church..the dj is the equivalent of the worship leader. Having attended quite a few services myself I can tell you the flow and the tempo of a worship session varies with each worship leader…likewise it’s the same thing for the dj.

The dj sets the tone of the party/worship session…and Christian dj’s aren’t any different…their job actually requires a unique skill and ability…the ability to select and mix music in a way that engages the crowd, and at the same time they must recognize when the crowd isn’t responding.

The dj is a foundational element of hip hop, even though these days people tend to overlook them.

A good dj will go as far as look and dig for the perfect music to blend together for an event (hence the phrase diggin thru crates) A good dj can also flawlessly and seamlessly blend several different songs together and create one unique masterpiece…

Currently there are quite a few Christian Dj’s who use their gifts and talents to proclaim the goodness of God. Dj’s like Dj Lace, DJ I Rock Jesus, DJ Wade-O, DJ D-Lite, DJ WIll, DJ Sean Blu, DJ DIzzNoc, DJ One3, DJ RickaShay, DJ Lady Grace and the list goes.

Each of these dj’s has a unique style but all of them use the gifts talents and abilities to Rep the Kingdom of Heaven. We just wanted to take minute and say thanks to all of the Christian DJ’s who are helping spread the Gospel even those who do so using “non-traditional” means.

Keep Mixxin It Up For Christ Ya Heard!

The DJ is doing the modern day “call to worship”.
The impact that they can have on a service is amazing.
I look forward to the day when this element is infused into the fabric of our churches.

The Christian dj is a vital conduit of the Gospel for this generation. Although we use non-traditional methods to spread God’s Word we should be respected for developing and using our gifts so that we can effectively minister to both saved and the unsaved. It takes a special anointing to put together sets that cause people to listen and take notice that Christians can “Rock the Bells” too! God’s Love, Peace!
